Voices of Faith: Why Our Music Ministry Sounds Like the Philippines

There is a specific kind of peace that comes from hearing the songs of your childhood. For many of us, the opening notes of a Tagalog hymn don’t just signal the start of Mass—they signal the feeling of being home.

At the Fatima Shrine Filipino Community, music is the heartbeat of our 1:00 PM Sunday Mass. We take pride in a bilingual liturgy that honors our roots while welcoming everyone. Our repertoire is a blend of “home favorites” in Tagalog—songs like Tanging Yaman, Ama Namin, and Anima Christi—alongside contemporary and traditional English hymns.

Is there a specific song you miss hearing? Our music ministry is a living, breathing part of our community. If there is a particular hymn that holds a special place in your heart, we invite you to approach us. We love bringing those “lost” favorites back to the pews to share with the congregation.

No Experience? No Problem! You don’t need to be a professional singer or a trained musician to join us. Our music ministry is open to everyone. Whether you have years of experience or just a desire to lift your voice in praise, there is a spot for you in the choir. We believe that the most beautiful music comes from a place of joy and community.

Ready to share your talent? Come volunteer for the Music Ministry! Whether you sing, play an instrument, or want to help curate our community playlists, we would love to have you. See us after the 1:00 PM Mass to get involved.
